This FGF, I couldn’t be more excited to introduce The K-Man, whom I’ve known for longer than
but didn’t become close with until a year or two later (just before I met and , for those tracking the timeline of my friendships with our contributors!). So happy to have him here and to know that we at TND are inspiring people everywhere to nap — enjoy this piece, hopefully not the last from our latest contributor!Longtime friend of Matt’s here. I have been following the TND chronicles over the last couple months and was inspired yesterday to take my first intentional nap in what feels like years. I say “intentional” nap in that I felt tired and made the decision to lie down and try to fall asleep. This is not to say that I haven't unintentionally napped (a.k.a. nodded off) in recent memory, which happens quite frequently, but making the decision to nap was a big step for me, inspired by Matt and his little nap buddies.
Nap details
Made the decision around 1:15PM and cleared it with the wife. She said to go for it!1
Went upstairs around 1:30PM.
Dark bedroom, white noise on, fan blowing in my face.
Kept on shirt and mesh shorts as I have greater success with napping if I stay in my street clothes. Boxers and shirtless’ness is meant for longer night time naps (a.k.a. sleep).2
Set alarm for 2:45, as I had a 3:00PM call.3
Conclusion
Why aren't I doing this more often?? Shameful. At least a couple days each week I have the logistical ability to nap and mark my words — I will be taking advantage of this moving forward. Henceforth and forevermore!
I forgot how amazing naps are…
Ed.: We definitely need the wives’/special lady friends’ perspective here…BK, going to keep an eye out for you in a future Featured Guest Friday!
Ed.: Note that this is in stark contrast with , who previously regaled us with his tales of napping sans pantaloons.
Ed.: Interesting, he went for the Hollywood of Naps!
Mesh shorts sans a real belt are pretty close to underwear. Subtle difference between that and the no-pants nap.
I should discuss the seasonality of pants / shorts choices WRT naps in a future post, but definitely the no-pants nap is a highlight of cooler months...removing the constructions of a belt and lower leg covering is what takes it to the next level.
