Two days in a row…progress! Some exciting TND-related announcements coming up, will look forward to sharing within the next month or two!
So it turns out I’ve branded myself as “the napping guy” to such an extent that I had multiple people send me this recent article from the Wall Street Journal, entitled “America’s Most Famous Neurosurgeon Thinks You Should Take a Nap.”
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Emmy-winning CNN correspondent, had the following to say about napping:
I love objective data. Researchers make the case that people who nap regularly and had a specific length of nap had increased brain volume versus those who did not nap regularly. And this was regardless of how much you slept at night. Now, we don’t know what that increased brain volume really means tangibly. The best benefit of taking a nap is that, for a period of time, you’re not stressed the same way that you are most of the rest of the day. Stress in and of itself is not a problem—it’s the relentless nature of stress. Naps, as it turns out, are a really good way to get a reliable break.
We’ve previously posted about the benefits of napping from the perspective of medical professionals, and like Matthew Roberson, the WSJ’s Lane Florsheim is a bit late to the party in terms of the benefits of napping. With that, anything that increases the amount of napping in the world is a good thing from our perspective, so we’re here to celebrate this step towards further celebrating naps. Kudos to you, Lane and Dr. Gupta!
