This Bundy Sunday Funday, I wanted to continue our recent spate of famous napper profiles with a treatment of our first fictional napper: Bluey’s dad, Bandit.
It was only this past Friday, at my parents’ house for Rosh Hashana dinner, that I became aware of Bluey, an Australian preschool cartoon centered around the eponymous heroine, a Blue Heeler puppy. My niece was watching the show, and I shared a screen shot of what I thought was a funny episode title with the Buffett crew. As it turns out, our good friend, Mr. A, knows quite a bit about the show and watches an episode with his high school students each week, most recently showing one to teach them about transcendentalism. He says that Bluey’s dad, Bandit, is “quite relatable” and also shared that he is a dog napper (not a dognapper) — sounds pretty relatable to me.
Apparently, Bluey and her sister, Bingo, are very energetic and tend to run Bandit and his wife, Chili, ragged. I can relate, as this weekend has been centered around gymnastics and dance performances. Our girls enjoy these activities tremendously, and as much as The Wife and I are happy making them happy, it’s exhausting. While The Wife 100% bears the brunt of this, she (unlike Chili) is not a napper — but like Bandit, I often seek out a nap to sustain the energy I need to keep up.
With that, hope to see you this afternoon on the other side of consh, Bandit!
